OPENING CEREMONY FOR SONGKRAN PARADE: Mr. Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, formerly opened the Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival at 2 p.m. on Sunday 18th April 2010. The Governor first paid respect to a statue of King Rama III. Then, after speeches, he led others in pouring water on a Buddha image, released birds and fish, poured water on the hands of elders, attempted to play Saba and then finally helped stir a Thai dessert called kalamae.

is at the far end of the Chao Phraya River, where it empties out into the Gulf of Thailand. The borders to the north and west join the Metropolitan of Bangkok. This photo album concentrates mainly on Paknam where we live, but we also have pictures about events and festivals around the province. We are close enough to Bangkok for people to come for a day trip. We don't get many independent foreign tourists so this is actually a good place to experience "Untouched Thailand".
