NAVAL BATTLE MEMORIAL DAY: On Sunday 17th January 2010, Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Kamthorn Pumhiran presided over the wreath-laying ceremony and the merit making ceremony in front of HTMS Thonburi at the Royal Thai Naval Academy in Samut Prakan. Today marks the 69th anniversary of the battle with the French on 17th January 1941 near the island of Koh Chang. The HTMS Thonburi was badly damaged and the bridge section and front guns was later brought to the academy to be used as a memorial.

is at the far end of the Chao Phraya River, where it empties out into the Gulf of Thailand. The borders to the north and west join the Metropolitan of Bangkok. This photo album concentrates mainly on Paknam where we live, but we also have pictures about events and festivals around the province. We are close enough to Bangkok for people to come for a day trip. We don't get many independent foreign tourists so this is actually a good place to experience "Untouched Thailand".
