Merit Making for New Year 2010

MAKING MERIT FOR NEW YEAR: Thousands of local people from Paknam joined Mr. Surachai Kanasa, Governor of Samut Prakan Province, and other dignitiries to give alms to 99 monks from local temples. Prakhonchai Road, in front of the City Pillar, was closed early on the morning of 1st January 2010 for the ceremony.

is at the far end of the Chao Phraya River, where it empties out into the Gulf of Thailand. The borders to the north and west join the Metropolitan of Bangkok. This photo album concentrates mainly on Paknam where we live, but we also have pictures about events and festivals around the province. We are close enough to Bangkok for people to come for a day trip. We don't get many independent foreign tourists so this is actually a good place to experience "Untouched Thailand".
