WIEN TIEN AT WAT ASOKARAM: During the evening of Makha Bucha, many people went to their local temple to take part in a candlelight procession around the ordination hall. Most of these events took place at about 8 p.m. However many Thai Buddhists decided to go in the late afternoon like these people doing "wien tien" around the chedi at Wat Asokaram.

MAKING MERIT FOR MAKHA BUCHA DAY: Early on the morning of 28th February 2010, hundreds of local people in Paknam went to Wat Klang to make merit for Makha Bucha Day. They gave food to the monks and took part in chanting. A similar scene took place at all temples in Samut Prakan on this day. In the evening there will be a candlelight procession at most temples.
วันมาฆบูชา ทำบุญตักบาตรที่วัดกลางวรวิหาร: เนื่อง ในวันที่ 28 กุมภาพันธ์ 2553 เป็นวันมาฆบูชา วัดกลางวรวิหารถือว่าเป็นวัดที่มีความสำคัญวัดหนึ่งในต.ปากน้ำ พุทธศาสนิกชนในละแวกใกล้เคียงได้มาร่วมกันทำบุญตักบาตรและฟังธรรมกันแต่เช้า ไม่ต่างจากวัดอื่นๆในจ.สมุทรปราการที่มีคนหลั่งไหลเข้าไปทำบุญกันในวันนี้

2ND KLONG SUAN 100 YEAR MARKET FAIR: Mr. Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, presided over the opening ceremony for the 2nd Klong Suan 100 Year Market Fair on the morning of 27th February 2010. There will be activities at the riverside market over the long weekend until 1st March 2010.

RIOT CONTROL DRILL: Mr Surachai Kanasa, the Governor of Samut Prakan, went to watch a drill for riot control at the City Hall Plaza on Saturday 20th February 2010. The government are expecting trouble next week from red shirt protests and so the riot police are preparing emergency plans.

SACRED NIMIT BALL CEREMONY: Mr. Surachai Kanasa, Governor of Samut Prakan, attended a ceremony on the afternoon of 13th February 2010 to bless the sacred "nimit" balls at Wat Rat Niyom Tham in Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakan.

PLAN FOR PAKNAM RAILWAY MONUMENT: The building of the monument to commemorate the Paknam Railway should be finished by the end of February. The structure is now taking shape. The base will be covered with stone and surrounded by water. The design on top will be covered with aluminium sheets leaving a hole for the shape of the steam train chimney.

ปั่นจักรยานเที่ยวพระประแดง: การปั่นจักรยานเที่ยวบริเวณปอดของกรุงเทพ (คุ้งกระเพาะหมู) อ.พระประแดง เป็นการเที่ยวชมสถานที่ในแบบใกล้ชิดกับธรรมชาติและถือเป็นการออกกำลังกาย รวมทั้งได้สูดอากาศบริสุทธิ์อีกด้วย ซึ่งชาวต่างชาตินิยมมาปั่นจักรยานเที่ยวออกกำลังกายบริเวณนี้เป็นจำนวนมาก
is at the far end of the Chao Phraya River, where it empties out into the Gulf of Thailand. The borders to the north and west join the Metropolitan of Bangkok. This photo album concentrates mainly on Paknam where we live, but we also have pictures about events and festivals around the province. We are close enough to Bangkok for people to come for a day trip. We don't get many independent foreign tourists so this is actually a good place to experience "Untouched Thailand".
